Choppies opens 87th store in Mmathethe

Choppies has opened its 87th store in Mmathete and has employed 47 people.
Giving a brief history of the supermarket chain, one of the managers, Mr Abu Chopdat said the store was first established in Lobatse in 1986, and that it spread to other parts of the country.
He said the supermarkets success was fueled by the love and humility of its employees when helping clients.
Mr Chopdat thanked Mmathethe residents for their support.
Kgosi Daniel Mathiba welcomed the store in his village, saying it would save villagers transport money to other areas to purchase groceries.
He also said the development was for the whole community and that the store needed to be guarded by all.
Area councillor, Mr Samuel Morolong said he was happy that his request had finally been acceded to, revealing that in 2014 he approached Choppies management with the idea.
He said the store would serve residents of Mmathethe, Mogojogojo, Magoriapitse, Tloaneng and Metlobo.
Good Hope Station Commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Kwapa said the police had already extended patrols to the store, and that they have also advised Choppies management to deposit money on time to curb theft.
He said the opening of Mmathethe satellite police post would also help in fighting crime in the village. ENDS
