Entrepreneur urges youth to persevere

14 Apr 2019

Founder and CEO of Ngwana Enterprises Mr Mooketsi Tekere has urged young entrepreneurs to work hard if they want to become successful business people.

He said this during Botswana Innovation Hub coffee session in Gaborone recently.

Ngwana Enterprises is a citizen owned company that simplifies learning, helps students comprehend better and fast-tracks learning.

He pointed out that it was important for youth to always push boundaries and be problem solvers rather than wait for handouts from government.

He said it was always important for business people to identify a niche in the market and come up with solutions and ideas that would make them a sort after resource.

Furthermore, he challenged those in attendance to know that the ideal regional and international markets for different products and ideas were waiting

He pointed out that Batswana were an innovative nation, but the only hindrance was that they were overly cautious and did not like pushing boundaries, adding that lack of implementation also contributed to the apparent lack of innovation that seemed to have engulfed the nation.

Mr Tekere said successful business owners should come on board and help SMMEs and start-ups with finances and mentoring.

He opined that the move would be good in that the financiers would most of the time not be charging interest and it becomes easy for them to mentor those that they have financed.

He said such an idea was common in developed countries and had yielded positive results.

One speakers, also a young innovator Mr Shine Chivia of Office 400 said they had developed an App that helped SMMEs and large corporates with financial management and data capturing.

Mr chivia said the app was good for SMMEs in that it helped them with finances and accounting, which has been identified as a hindrance to most businesses.

He said Office 400 afforded business owners to subscribe monthly at a minimum fee of P300 and be assisted with bookkeeping. ENDS
