Bank of Botswana embarks on redevelopment
10 Apr 2019
Bank of Botswana has embarked on a major redevelopment of its headquarters commencing in March this year and is expected to be completed in June 2022.
A press release from the bank says it is part of the bank’s broader strategic programme designed to augment office resources, modernise and build a more secure and cost-effective facility.
“Construction will be carried out in two phases. Phase 1 will involve the redevelopment of the southern part of the headquarters premises and Phase 2 refurbishment of the northern half,” says the release.
During the redevelopment period, the release says, the banking hall, banking supervision and research and financial stability departments will relocate to temporary office accommodation at Plot 76415 Botswana Road in the Main Mall, former Botswana Telecommunications Corporation commercial centre offices.
Consequently, the release says central banking services such as exchange of old coin, mutilated banknotes and coin and treasury services were offered at the bank’s premises at Botswana Road from March 18.
“All other bank functions will remain at headquarters at Plot 17938, Khama Crescent,” it says. ENDS
