No plans to upgrade position

Parliament has been informed that there are no plans in the current National Development Plan 11 to upgrade the Headman of Arbitration position at Tsonyane to Headman of Record.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse when responding to a question in Parliament from MP for Kanye South, Mr Abraham Kesupile.
Mr Autlwetse clarified that Tsonyane settlement had tribal offices that were built by Debswana Mine.
He further said there were no plans for the Botswana Police Service to occupy the offices and deploy staff there.
With regards to a social worker, he said Tsonyane had a trained social worker who was currently occupying Social and Community Development office.
However, Mr Autlwetse said they had since advised Southern District through the district commissioner to liaise with Ngwaketse Tribal Administration to facilitate occupation of the offices by any needy extension departments.
Kanye South legislator had asked Mr Autlwetse if he was aware that Tsonyane now had a tribal office funded and built by the Debswana mine and that it had space for services of police and social worker.
In addition, Mr Kesupile wanted the minister to state when his ministry would facilitate the occupation of the offices for use by the police and social worker.
The minister was also to state what was constraining the elevation of the chief to fit and attract services intended to be provided by the development. ENDS
