Schools fill kitchen hand vacancies
13 Aug 2013
Posts for Kitchen Hands at Mahube and Makaleng primary schools have been filled through promotions, with one employee for each school.
Responding to a question in Parliament, from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, local government and rural development assistant minister, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, said these employees reported for duty on August 7.
“This brings the kitchen staff for each Primary School to four, therefore, there are no vacant posts at both schools,” she added.
Ms Tshireletso also said her ministry was aware of the situation of the cleaners in primary schools including those in the Francistown South constituency. Due to limited resources, she said Francistown City Council (FCC) has not been able to create sufficient positions for this cadre.
However, she said FCC continued to engage temporary cleaners to address the situation. Currently, she said FCC was in the process of engaging temporary cleaners for the two schools, adding that the recruitment processes was expected to conclude by end of this month.
Mr Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state when the posts for Kitchen Hands at Mahube and Makaleng Primary Schools in Francistown would be filled.
He had also wanted to know whether the minister was aware that cleaners at Francistown South constituency primary schools were overwhelmed, because they had to clean offices, toilets and classrooms for lower classes when they were only two.
Mr Mmolotsi also wanted to know what the minister would do to address the situation. Ends
