National Library Services Bill passes without amendments

Parliament has passed the National Library Services Bill without amendments following presentation by Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Major General (Rtd) Pius Mokgware as well as debate by legislators.
The legislation seeks to re-enact and update the National Library Service Act in efforts to transform the country’s library network into a modern, digital-first infrastructure.
Subsequently, modernising physical facilities, the initiative will significantly boost human capital by expanding free internet access, supporting digital education standards, enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities and equipping local communities with essential digital skills for the modern economy.
