CEDA forensic audit complete
13 Mar 2019
Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Moiseraele Goya says the Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) forensic audit was completed in January 2012.
Mr Goya said the audit was done to establish whether there was any merit to the complaints that were raised by the public.
He said allegations raised in the report were not substantiated by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC).
Mr Goya, however, indicated that the DCEC had noted that there were certain administrative improvements that could be made which were consistent with normal business practice.
He told Parliament that the DCEC recommended that the agency should put in place policies around whistle blowing and corruption prevention.
The agency, he said, had since adopted the said policies with the assistance of the DCEC.
Mr Goya also revealed that the CEDA board of directors had implemented the administrative recommendations of the audit as advised by DCEC and continued to monitor them to ensure non-occurrence.
“It should be noted that the forensic audit by its nature is strictly confidential to those necessary for acting on its findings. Therefore, by making the findings of the forensic audit public, may prejudice investigations,” he said.
He further pointed out that the ministry was not in a position to make the CEDA forensic audit report public.
Member of Parliament for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Nthaile had asked the minister to state what steps were taken to ensure that the long awaited CEDA forensic audit report was released to the public. ENDS
