Farmers to benefit from pop up market

Matsieng pop-up farm market scheduled for March 30 at Mochudi Home Gardens and Landscaping in Rasesa will give farmers an opportunity to market their products. 

Speaking in an interview, event organiser, Ms Nteba Sentsho said the pop up market would promote food produce and offer farmers a free market. 

Ms Sentsho said participating in agricultural activities would enable those interested in the agricultural sector to venture into businesses. 

“As a result of high unemployment rate in the country, we advise the youth to take up projects in the agricultural sector for self-employment as there are opportunities in this sector”, said Ms Sentsho. 

Furthermore, Ms Sentsho said government had availed funds to support the agricultural sector and urged the youth to use the programmes to make a living from agriculture. 

Moreover, she said the event would not only be limited to business activities but would also promote leisure since the day would be filled with entertainment events suitable for families. 

Ms Sentsho said the pop up farm market would attract a vast range of displays from crop production, stock production, agro-processing, soil science, animal health, crafts, food and drinks, semi processed products among others. 

“The pop up farm market will promote and market viable agricultural businesses in the areas of horticulture, stock production, agro- processing, animal health among others”, she explained. 

According to Ms Sentsho, the event was set to raise awareness creating platform to connect producers with consumers and foster learning and knowledge across the country. 

The Matsieng pop up farm market would be on its third installment after two successful pop out markets which were held in March and September 2018. 

Ms Sentsho said the first event had 31 exhibitors who participated and had over 500 attendees who graced the event. 

“With this third edition we anticipate an increased number of exhibitors as well as good attendance”, said Ms Sentsho. ENDS
