06 Mar 2019

Employees of Mabutsane Sub-district Council were bestowed with accolades for their tireless efforts to serve the nation.

When delivering a keynote address at the sub-district council’s annual performance awards on March 1, Botswana Qualifications Authority’s acting deputy chief executive officer, Dr Justice Gaeonale, praised the sub-region to have obtained position one in the Southern District in 2018 with regards to provision of quality service.

He therefore commended the sub-region team leaders for positive facilitation emphatically pointing out that could only be achieved when there was mutual respect for each other and the desire to reach a common vision.

He said there was need for team leaders to create a conducive and well-resourced work environment for employees to reach their optimum output.

Dr Gaeonale challenged employees to continue delivering quality services and infrastructure for better livelihoods, adding that they should take cognisance of the fact that the area was poverty stricken when discharging their mandate.

He said it took courage and mindful thoughts to appreciate and recognise such devoted individuals befitting to be called the ‘winning team’ that had worked tirelessly to meet and exceed set targets.

He, however, noted that performance awards reinforced employees’ commitment to exceed expectations.

He said performance awards that had brought the sub-region thus far are based on promoting a culture of excellence.

Dr Gaeonale said it is of paramount importance to recognise the notion that organisations are what they are because of the labour force and the difference they create through delivering quality developmental services.

“If you have won the race you must continue winning or you must win more in future but if you have not it challenges you to be among the best”

He further said good work ethics gives the country a comparative advantage in the global market and create a platform for its human resource to fully execute their duties.

For his part, sub-council chairperson, Mr  Kgopolo Ramosesane said those who did not receive awards were still recognised but should benchmark on the winning team on how best they can soar performance.

He said those who got awards should strive to push results near 100 per cent. ENDS
