Flea markets present numerous opportunities
03 Mar 2019
Monthly flea markets provide a window of growth for small businesses.
Speaking in an interview recently, market analyst at Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) Molepolole branch, Mr Semakaleng Majelantle said a flea market that was held at Mafenyatlala Mall monthly, had attracted more small scale entrepreneurs across the Kweneng region in its three years of existence.
He added that at first they would have less than 10 clients who were exhibiting their products and were mostly LEA clients.
Nowadays the flea market attracted around 30 clients. Mr Majelantle highlighted that at first the flea market focused only on LEA clients but now involved clients from CEDA, YDF, forestry department and Kgosi Sechele I Museum.
He said this showed that the flea market was a vital tool in marketing the small scale entrepreneurs.
He said LEA branch was tasked to carry out a flea market and Molepolole branch found it fit to do it the last Friday of every month.
Mr Majelantle said to measure how the flea market was doing each month, they took records of the sales as well as the feedback from the clients and later evaluate.
He encouraged the small entrepreneurs to keep on attending the flea market so that they could benchmark from others in order to up their sales and have access to LEA services for improvement of their businesses.
He said the flea market gave clients a platform to be known. Ends
