07 Aug 2013
Parliament has been informed that there were no anomalies or inconsistencies that occurred when implementing the Public Service Directive No. 2 of 2013 on Remote Area Service Allowance (RASA) review.
Answering a question in Parliament on August 6, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi acknowledged that there were areas like Lephephe that might be considered in terms of satisfying the criteria for RASA qualification.
He said, “as we continue to monitor implementation, such areas will be considered for further review to re-assess their eligibility. Similarly Medie, Hatsalatladi, Ditshukudu and Kgope will also be considered for re-assessment.”
MP for Kweneng West, Maj. Gen. Moeng Pheto had asked the minister to state the plans in place to correct the anomaly and inconsistency that occurred when implementing the Public Service Directive No. 2 of 2013 on RASA review.
The MP also wanted to know reasons why Lephephe based civil servants do not receive RASA while those based at Otse and Sojwe which are 5km and 12 km respectively were paid allowance and also the criteria used to exclude Medie, Hatsalatadi, Ditshukudu and Kgope while Mahetlwe was included. ENDS
