Crime in Botswana manageable

The acting Police commissioner, Mr Tapudzani Gabolekwe, says crime in the country is relatively manageable.
According to a press release from Botswana Police Service, the acting commissioner, who met with the South African peace corps safety and security officer, Mr Jeremy Rothgerbet, during the latter’s courtsey call on January 17.
The police expressed committment to keeping the country safe at all times.
The release further says police appreciates the presence of the Peace Corps in the country because they contributed to the country’s development through a number of programmes.
“ I pledged to collaborate with the office of the Peace Corps in Botswana office to ensure the volunteers’ safety during their stay in the country,” states the release.
It further says Mr Rothgerber who is based in Pretoria, thanked Botswana police in ensuring the safety of the Peace Corps in Botswana.
The release states that there are 160 Peace Corps in Botswana, who are engaged in various areas of development such as education, health, community development as well as participating in programmes undertaken by Non-Governmental Organisations.
Mr Rothgerbert was accompanied by Peace Corps Botswana safety and security manager Mr Goabaone Pono and his assistant Ms Lobisa Ruele. Ends
