Permanent Secretary to the President Mr Carter Morupisi has appealed to public employees not to drop the ball in securing the stability of the nation.
Mr Morupisi, who was speaking at the beginning of permanent secretaries’ retreat in Ghanzi on January 15, directed the appeal to security services, immigration and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) officers.
He said the mentioned organs should be as vigilant as usual.
“Do what you ought and are supposed to do to secure stability and integrity of Botswana,” he said.
Mr Morupisi appealed to all government departments to give IEC the necessary support during the election process saying among other things they would need enough transport.
He challenged the permanent secretary of Transport and Communications, Mr Kabelo Ebineng to ensure that all government vehicles were serviced.
Mr Morupisi said preparations for elections would be hectic this year but added; “we have been through the process and I believe even this time we would succeed and we can succeed if you do not drop the ball”.
On another subject, he challenged the relevant authorities to bridge the gap between ministries and parastatals by tightening their administration processes and procedures.
Regarding the retreat, he said the programme included a briefing on salary review proposals and the presentation of an ICT report while different speakers had been invited to motivate the team to start the year with vigour. Ends
