Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) Mr Carter Morupisi says it is prudent for senior government officials to introspect, appraise and map the way forward for service delivery improvement and fast tracking government priorities.
Addressing Ghanzi leadership on January 14, ahead of a permanent secretaries’ retreat which commenced January 15, he said they were duty bound to make the president,s road map and priorities a reality.
He said while in Ghanzi, the permanent secretaries would interact with and receive feedback from the community .
Mr Morupisi promised that they would undertake community service activities in the township before departure.
Councillor Onalethata Ngati of Bosele Ward said though there were policies in place, at times there was need to think outside the box or take affirmative action to assist communities challenged by poverty, poor education performance and health issues such as Ghanzi.
He encouraged permanent secretaries to visit their departments while in Ghanzi to appreciate the challenges they were facing.
Giving Itekeng Secondary School as an example, he said some students were taught under trees while enrolment was beyond its capacity.
He thanked government for addressing transfer issues, saying staying in one area could demoralise employees. Ends
