Kwerepe calls on residents to help address humanwildlife conflict

 Ngami Member of Parliament, Mr Thato Kwerepe, has underscored the need for both Batswana and government to address issues while they are still fresh.

 
Speaking in a kgotla meeting in Etsha 1 on Monday, Mr Kwerepe said some lives were lost due to human/wildlife conflict last year.
 
He said government had responded to the issue and came up with an initiative to reduce some of the problem animals such as elephants.
 
Consequentlty, Mr Kwerepe, also Assistant Minister of Basic Education, urged residents to unite and come up with strategies on what should be done.
 
Mr Kwerepe also highlighted that Etsha 1 was hit by water shortage.
 
He expressed concern that some individuals damaged water pipes in the area to water their livestock.
 
Doing so, he said, was a contravention of the law.
 
Mr Kwerepe said he was not satisfied with the performance of the village development committee, especially when dealing with social and welfare issues pertaining to orphans, the elderly, people living with disabilities and the needy.
 
Meanwhile, he urged the villagers to work hand-in-hand with public servants since they were there to serve a them.
 
The chief education officer for Gumare sub-region,
Ms Goitsemodimo Elias, complained that young parents neglected their children after leaving them in the care of grandparents.
 
She said teamwork between parents and teachers was vital in ensuring that children performed to their full potential. Ends
