First Lady Neo Masisi has made a donation of full school uniform to Chanoga Primary School in the North West District.

Ms Masisi served national service (Tirelo Sechaba) at Chanoga Primary School as a standard six teacher in 1989.

She said the donation followed her visit to the village in June where she learnt that the school had challenges including lack of uniform.

Ms Masisi said the school presented a list of needs and uniform was highlighted as a priority.

Presenting the gift, the First Lady took the opportunity to encourage pupils to take their education seriously.

Education, she said, was the only achievement that no one could steal from them.

Ms Masisi shared that her wish had always been to work internationally which became possible through her career and encouraged them to believe they could achieve whatever they aimed for.

She also encouraged the village’s youth to remain committed to developing Chanoga and the country as a whole.

The donation of all uniform items to the entire school complement as well as blankets for pupils and teachers was made possible through the assistance of World Group of Companies.

Kgosi Oateng Setlhodi of Chanoga commended Ms Masisi for her compassion towards the pupils and honouring the promise she made during her first visit.

Kgosi Setlhodi said it was also commendable for the First Lady to remember her national service roots in Chanoga, saying not many people remembered such humble beginnings.

The School Head Mr Senthowe Maoto said the management and pupils were grateful for the gifts.

Mr Maoto expressed appreciation for Ms Masisi’s gesture adding that proper school uniform would motivate students.

He encouraged parents to ensure proper care of the items.

Boys were given trousers, shirts, shoes and jerseys while girls got skirts, dresses, shirts, jerseys and shoes.

Ms Masisi also donated football and netball kits as well as balls. ENDs
