In its effort to expand and bring services closer to the people, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development through Accountant General’s office will by the end of this year use close to P1m to construct a revenue office in Nata.
Speaking at the handing over of a site to I.N.N Building Construction company in Nata on September 11, director of Procurement and Project Management, Ms Nthoyapelo Motshwane said government was keen on taking services closer to the people, hence the project commencement.
She said the office would serve all the communities of Nata/Gweta thereby improving service delivery.
Ms Motshwane said since there was already a structure that they were upgrading, the project would take 12 weeks to complete starting September 25.
She however emphasised to the contractor to work within specification because that was one major area they would look at when preparing payments during the course of the project.
In addition, she said in an effort to create employment and build the private sector, government had decided to give work to a local company to ensure growth of the economy.
Ms Motshwane noted that it was thus a requirement for the company to mainly employ the locals within their area of work, adding that an expatriate could be employed in situations where there was no one with such expertise.
Earlier on in her welcome remarks, assistant accountant general north, Ms Tsholo Motlhatlhedi explained that they had made a proposal to the leadership of Nata on their intension to open a revenue office in the village.
She thus appreciated the support from them until they were allocated a council office which they would upgrade to make it suitable for use. ENDS
