Boteti Sub District shows slight improvement

04 Sep 2018

There is a significant improvement in the implemention of development projects in the Boteti Sub-district due to close monitoring and supervision.

Deputy district officer for Boteti Sub-district, Mr Ewetse Selelo said this at the ongoing Boteti Sub-district Council meeting in Letlhakane.

Presenting the Boteti sub district report, Mr Selelo cited challenges such as delays or slow progress by some contractors, shortage of sand, water and bricklayers.

He said transport had also been proved to be a challenge for most of the departments and lack of commitment by some of the poverty eradication programme beneficiaries.

Some, he added were not servicing their loans.

Mr Selelo said the sub-district continued to urge the technical committee leadership to intensify project management to improve timely delivery of projects.

He added that district leadership was to continue intensifying counseling of clients and family on the importance of projects through joint kgotla meetings and site visits.

He also said that district leadership had urged all heads of departments to desist from operating in silos in terms of transport and encouraged them to share government resources.

Mr Selelo said contractors that did not adhere to the contract were notified for the slow progress and also cautioned on being black listed, in order to avoid cost overruns and delayed service delivery to the community.

The councillors commended the Roads department for a job well done on dry grading project as well as Ipelegeng. Ends
