China Railway Construction Cooperation (CRCC) eyes Botswana as a key market in its expansion to African countries.

Chairperson of CRCC, Mr Chen Fenjian said this on August 31, when briefing Botswana delegation to China led by President Mokgweetsi Masisi during a guided tour of their facility.

He said China stood ready to complement Botswana in her future endeavours with regards to infrastructural projects owing to the company’s track record of overseas based companies that covers 120 countries.

“We are ready to work with Botswana like the rest of African countries, where we developed road and railway lines as witnessed by our subsidiary Mosetse-Kazungula railway,” he said.

He said they were ready to cooperate with Botswana companies given the technical know-how that CRCC has a good track record that speaks for itself, adding that they were ready to share the expertise with Batswana.

For his part, President Masisi said Botswana was open for trade and investment with China under the auspice of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and an open bid system invitation of companies for projects.

He said Botswana was keen in human capacity building and skills exchange in project management and design.

“We would like to learn from you on how a government enterprise delivers successful projects,” he said. ENDS
