Department of Information Services director, Ms Maria Leshongwane has urged her staff to work as a team.
Speaking during a north regional meeting in Kasane on August 29, Ms Leshongwane said in order for the department to achieve its five-year strategic plan, employees must work as a team.
Though applauding her staff and urging them to continue working hard, the director, however, warned supervisors against befriending their subordinates, saying it lead to poor supervision and consequently poor performance.
Earlier on, the Performance Improvement Coordinator (PIC), Ms Golebaone Radikolana said the department has aligned its vision and mission with Vision 2036.
She said to achieve the mission, which was to provide news and information that was current and reliable as well as promoting government programmes and policies, measures have been put in place.
In response to the director’s address, employees highlighted some of the challenges that hindered them from performing well such as poor infrastructure, lack of equipment and shortage of vehicles, among others.
Gaseitsiwe Moruakgomo complained of little consultation and engagement by management when certain decisions concerning their stations were made.
Puso Kedidimetse said there was need for a standardised and transparent promotion system.
He said everyone should be given a chance to compete fairly for promotion, saying it would do away with the perception that some people were favoured. ENDS
