Church donates hampers

Christ Prophetic Word Church has donated food hampers to 10 less privileged and orphanage members of their church.

    Speaking during the handing over of groceries to beneficiaries in Kanye on August 26, Member of Parliament for Kanye South constituency, Mr Abram Kesupile said giving to the needy was a precious event which opened avenues for more blessings.

He said a community which embraced church teachings had love, a sense of purpose, direction and vision, whilst a nation which listened to church teachings grew the country’s institutions, economy and built better relations with the rest of the world. He urged people to commit to their churches and avoid temptation to move around churches. The elder of Christ Prophetic Word Church, Mr Gaolatlhe Modise said the church was motivated to give back to some church members because giving was a God’s principle. He said as members they identified a need amongst their colleagues and bought them food hampers to accomplish God given responsibility as a church.

Mr Modise noted that they saw it wise to start giving first to members before donating to orphans or needy outside their church. He said the event was a start of their journey of giving because they wished to continue giving to the needy in the community. Nyorosi East councillor, Mr Kagisanyo Tau commended the church for the spirit of love they portrayed towards fellow church members, and challenged beneficiaries to be testimonies that in church members stood together through hard times.He said beneficiaries were given hampers because they were less fortunate and could not find jobs, hence facing difficulties in life such as abject poverty, and he encouraged them to be strong and find ways to fend themselves.

He highlighted that statistics showed that women who were in the majority in the country were prone to challenges of live than their male counterpart and urged women to be supportive of each other, and to test for non-communicable diseases like cancer.

He pleaded with the church to pray for peace and stability Batswana have enjoyed and urged members to also pray for the 2019 general elections. ENDS
