Vivo Energy Botswana has donated P46 000 worth of Mathematics text books to secondary schools in the Jwaneng /Mabutsane constituency.

Speaking at the donation ceremony  in Jwaneng recently, the acting corporate communications manager for Vivo Energy Botswana, Ms Khumoyame Thuso said that the donation came after Jwaneng/Mabutsane Member of Parliament, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile informed them that there was shortage of books  in the constituency.

She also said they were committed to improving academic standards in the country as education played an important role to everyone throughout their journey in life.

“Today’s event of book donation is in line with our objective to continually contribute to growing academic excellence in the country. Proper education brings equality among human beings,” said Ms Thuso.

Ms Thuso further said they would continue to collaborate with government and the private sector in pursuit of developing the country and well-being of its people.

She further encouraged students to make good use of the books to ensure readiness for classes and ultimately their examinations.

“Let the books not gather dust from here .

It is imperative for students to devote time to studying as the responsibility for learning is predominantly theirs.

I urge the students to use the books with the utmost care to preserve them for future generations,” she said.

She further urged parents and the community to lay the right foundation outside the school environment saying it would ensure that teachers and students had a smooth and pleasant experience in their day to day interaction in the classroom.

When receiving the donation Mr Ntlhaile applauded the company for responding to the needs of his constituency.

“We live in an era where students are faced with various challenges both on the school and home front.

This donation is a much welcome gesture as it takes off the pressure from the learners and teachers’ minds and allows more focus on studies,” he said.

He underscored the need for partnerships by different stakeholders in the education sector to cultivate a bright future for learners.

For his part, the chief education officer for Jwaneng/Mabutsane cluster Mr Abram Molelowamodimo encouraged the schools’ management and Vivo Energy Botswana to continue making a significant contribution to the education ministry as it is a big sector. ENDS
