Executive secretaries rebrand

24 Jun 2018

Executive secretaries from different organisations recently came to Kasane for a re-treat and rebranding trip, which was organised by Crystal Academy of Management.

Officially opening the training, Chobe District Council Secretary, Mr Thuso Motlogelwa reminded the secretaries that they were the face of their organisations, therefore they had to maintain their reputation and further stated that organisations could succeed or fail because of the secretary.

“Executive secretaries are senior office staff members who support the work of the executive or top management, therefore they supervise and train other staff members in tackling tasks that could have drastic effect on the success or failure of an organisation,” stated Mr Motlogelwa.

He further thanked the Crystal Academy of Management for the enriching programme as he hoped this structured training on rebranding would accord the executive secretaries the noble opportunity to acquire knowledge to re-tool their professional skills towards excelling their day to day performance.

The secretaries, who arrived at the beginning of the week were however pleased with their stay in Kasane as attested to by one of the executive secretaries, a Personal Assistant from Botswana Qualification Authority, Ms Minah Maoto.

“Our trip to Kasane to attend the public relations for executive secretaries has indeed proved to be worthwhile away from home, and the presentations made us realise who we are and gave us a refreshed image of ourselves,” she said.

She further thanked the organisation that sponsored them through the invitation from Crystal Academy Management and their motivational speaker, Mr Kgomotso Jongman of JoSpeaks.

Ms Maoto hoped more retreats would be made for other executive secretaries by making this an annual training.

The managing director Mr Goodwill Motlhabane said they had been prompted by the expansion in terms of secretary roles and responsibilities to organise some training and retreats for organisations.

He further stated there were trends in communications and public relations, which entailed areas such as them learning how to manage the managers, personal branding and the need for ongoing development in business etiquette skills.

“Our objective is to ensure they gain fresh perspectives and to develop skills and techniques for effective customer care skills, as they are the intermediary for the public and their managers,” said Mr Motlhabane.

Crystal Academy Management is a 100 per cent Batswana owned training and development capacity building organisation specialising in communication, customer service and reputation management, a member of the international Public Relations Association, Botswana Qualification Authority-accredited and recipient of a prestigious international business Stevie Award, received in Istanbul Turkey.
