Moipisi inspires education excellence

Due to declining quality output of schools in Kgalagadi North, the area MP has taken it upon himself to inspire the young generation in the region by introducing a floating trophy and a cash prize for the best performing school.
Officiating during the Ncaang Primary School 2017 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) achievement celebrations recently, Mr Michael Moleleke, handed over the floating trophy, foot balls and net balls plus P10 000 cash on behalf of the MP.
Mr Moleleke, who is private secretary to the Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, also the area MP, had extended the same consideration to Lehutshelo, Lehututu and
Motaung junior schools but none had achieved the set threshold of 50 per cent pass rate.
He said efforts were underway to assist Matsha Community College through different interventions to get it back to excellence.
To improve performance, he said the roles and responsibilities of all should be clear and fulfilled.
Mr Moleleke said the critical stakeholders should assess the schools’ situation, identify strengths and weaknesses, threats and opportunities and devise strategies for improving results.
Students, he said, must be reminded that they were products of their own commitment and desire to achieve.
He applauded Ncaang Primary School for its remarkable performance 100 per cent pass rate though with zero per cent quality pass.
Mr Moleleke said pupils should be assessed thoroughly to ensure they produced quality pass rates.
He further encouraged the 2017 class to up their game as well as to maintain discipline and dedication to school work inside and outside the classroom.
Parents, teachers and pupils were urged to strengthen their tripartite relationship as it would be fruitful to all parties.
He also called all other primary schools in the constituency to work hard to also be rewarded for their hard work and commitment.
In her remarks, the school head, Ms Kankane Sephiri, expressed appreciation all the efforts the area legislator had done to inspire excellence in education.
She said only Makgakgane Primary School gave hers competition and called on other schools to benchmark with them on how best to raise their performance.
Mr Sephiri said the prize money her school won in 2015, her was used to procure a generator.
In his closing remarks, the area councillor, Mr Ineelo Mokgwaphe, pleaded for sponsors to assist the school in any aspect to improve the learning environment.
He pointed out that the school still faced many challenges such as shortage of classrooms, especially for reception class, and an administration block. ENDS
