DBES donates to FCC

10 Jun 2018

Department of Buildings and Engineering Services (DBES) has donated 12 rubbish bins costing P1 700 to the Francistown City Council to be erected around the city.

Speaking during the handover ceremony last week, Francistown deputy district AIDS coordinator, Mr Obusitse Pitlagano said the donation was in line with government’s initiative of giving back to the community.

He noted that the initiative contributed to team building within departments because employees worked together towards one course.
Mr Pitlagano said  the dustbins would encourage cleanliness in the city.

He applauded Francistown DBES for being one of the departments that were always giving back to the community noting that social responsibility was no longer a peculiarity of the private sector.

Another speaker, Mr Ofentse Rannana of the council’s Department of Environmental Health explained that the department had many challenges, which made it difficult for it to keep the city as clean as planned.

He singled out lack of funds and resources as a major challenge, which limited the councils capacity to install rubbish bins and collect litter around the city.

“The department will ensure that the rubbish bins are taken care of and litter is collected from them accordingly,” he said.

Giving a background to the donation, DBES official Mr Fadzani Phegelo said the department’s female employees contributed over P1 700 to purchase and install the rubbish bins around the city to improve its state of cleanliness. Ends
