ICT transforms lives economy

Information Communication Technology (ICT) continues to play a significant role in the transformation and development of many lives and the country’s economy.
This was said by Francistown Botho University College Staff Development Fellow, Mr Zibo Molefe during the 8th Basic ICT awareness graduation for the Francistown participants.
Mr Molefe explained that today, people were living an instant life where everything was programmed and computerised, which has made life easier as communication and feedback were not delayed and distorted.
He said the use of modern technologies had positively impacted the world of business through provision of platforms for marketing and advertising.
“It is easier now for entrepreneurs to access markets for their end products both locally and internationally through the use of social media platforms,” he explained.
In addition, Mr Molefe emphasised that ICTs had also provided a business opportunity for some individuals who ventured into multimedia businesses and as such their lives had been transformed and sustained with the sales that accrued from such businesses.
He lamented however, that there were some individuals who tended to abuse the Internet and other social media platforms.
He therefore advised the participants to use the skills and knowledge they acquired for good, which would ultimately benefit them and the nation at large.
For her part, former customary court president Ms Ludo Mosojane encouraged the participants to remain positive at all times in their lives in order for them to succeed in attaining their personal goals and dreams.
Ms Mosojane maintained that in life, there were challenges, which could only be conquered by a positive mind and believing in oneself.
She further advised the participants to use the skills and knowledge they had acquired to generate ideas that could help transform their lives as well as adding value to the diversification of the country’s economy.
She encouraged the graduates to practise the spirit of volunteerism at their communities during activities that could need their assistance.
Ms Mosojane said this could go a long way in marketing them and the services they provided.
For their part, the participants expressed appreciation for the course saying it was one way through which the government was trying to empower them with the skills and knowledge to tackle the soaring unemployment rates in the country.
They added that the initiative was beneficial for today’s world as they would be able to communicate with people from different parts of the world as well as making it easier to know what was happening around the world.
Moreover, the participants shared that the information communication technology basic training course would help them find jobs from the Internet, market their business products as well as help them save time.
The course had attracted 99 participants while over 700 Francistown members of the community have so far benefited; courtesy of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development. Ends
