Khama remembers Molapowabojang elders

An elderly woman of Molapowabojang Ms Olebogeng Letlamma rattled out the poem to welcome former President Lt Gen.Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama to the village where he would later treat elders to dinner popularly known as soup kitchen.
Her richly worded poem commended the fourth president for having served the nation with grace, grit and style by committing his ready, noble hands to the fight against poverty in all its manifestations.
She said the former president extended opportunity to every Motswana regardless of their station in life.
Speaking before dishing out dinner to elders the fourth president promised to continue impacting on the lives of Batswana especially the youth, needy and elderly.
The former president, whose football team Super XI had thrashed Molapowabojang picking team 8-0 earlier on, donated four balls to be shared among the local teams. He also handed P3000 to the winning team and P2000 to the Molapowabojang team as consolation prize.
He said the tournament was sponsored by Studio 88, Notwane Pharmacy and Brahmans among others and thanked them for their support.
The former president further donated Bibles to local churches, blankets to the needy, elderly and Vision 2036 booklets to Kgosi Kedirile Letshabo and encouraged him to impart the national aspirations to residents.
He also promised to convey the concerns raised by Kgosi Letshabo like lack of police visibility in the village due to staff shortage, poor roads among others to relevant authorities.
For his part, area Member of Parliament and Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Alfred Madigele wished the fourth president a restful retirement.
Dr Madigele also thanked the former leader for having organised the tournament for the youth in the village adding the gesture confirmed the fact that sports was a potential wealth generator for the youth. ENDS
