Halo Nana holds expo for parents caregivers service providers

31 May 2018

Halo Nana, a baby and parenting exposition company, recently held a parenting expo for parents, caregivers and service providers to network and share ideas.

Speaking at a one-day exposition, event organiser, Ms Tuduetso Mokgosi, said the company was the brainchild of three youths who are passionate about the pediatric industry, being herself, Ms Kgomotso Makwati and Ms Mimi Gowoke.

The formation of the company followed the realisation that there were children who were overlooked because of their disabilities.

They therefore came up with something to assist families of children with disabilities in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Ms Mokgosi said for the past three years, they had noticed an opportunity for growth and every year they explore different ideas that they can offer Batswana.

She said thanks to the exhibitors, parents and would-be parents also notice the value that the exposition brings.

“Over the years we have grown. The exhibitors are shops, nursery schools and some offer services of training and developing children,” she said.

The mission of Halo Nana, the Baby and Parenting Exposition is to promote dialogue about nurturing children of different abilities.

The expo started in 2013 and it has been steadily growing as the organisers have been able to come up with a number of things that they can share with Batswana.

Ms Mokgosi said Botswana Breast Feeding Association had been more than supportive and was always willing to share topics on breast feeding.

Botswana Breastfeeding Association president, Ms Dikoloti Morewane said her organisation attended the exposition to share the importance of breast feeding.

“As an organisation we are benefiting a great deal because the more we share information the more we share the mandate and by sharing our mandate, people will know what to do to link with us,” Ms Morewane said.

She said the exposition was a brilliant idea for mothers and business people as it afforded them an opportunity to discover one another.

Ms Onnalenna Batsalelwang from Little One, a company that sells children’s items, also shared Ms Morewane sentiments, adding that exposure and interaction were crucial. ENDS
