Scouts groom pupils into responsible citizens

Botswana Scouts national training commissioner, who is also World Scout Foundation ambassador, Mr Engineer Malenga says they place focus on grooming youngsters into responsible citizens and adults.
In an interview after the scouts graduation ceremony in Gaborone recently, Mr Malenga said it was best to teach children right and wrong so that they could grow to know to make the right decisions hence being responsible citizens.
Mr Malenga pointed out that the graduates attended investure courses including discipline, citizenship and patriotism, life skills, first aid and personal health, STEM: science technology engineering mathematics and physical fitness.
He said his organisation saw it fit to introduce scouts at junior and primary schools to help curb the alarming rate of delinquent behaviour among pupils because they would know what was wrong and right.
Scouts, he said, had 10 laws that the recruits had to abide throughout their lives.
Being trustworthy, useful, friend to all, clean and obeying laws and orders, Mr Malenga said were some of the laws the graduates were taught during training.
The event crowned Ms Naledi Matlhoame as Ms Scout while Mr Kesiilwe Badube was crowned Mr Scout.
All graduates were awarded certificates. ENDS
