28 May 2018

The Mazda Drivers Association has donated 27 winter school uniforms to Radisele Primary School pupils.

Speaking in an interview, Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund representative, Ms Thabang Moswai commended Mazda Drivers Botswana (MDB) Club for donating the school uniforms at the right time when winter had set in.

She thanked the club for supporting the education sector, particularly at primary level.

Ms Moswai said children were the future leaders hence supporting them meant a lot to the future of the country.

“Education is the key to success, so we must all stand up and support the children so that they can have a brighter future,” she said.

She said pupils must also study hard and respect and listen to their teachers and parents.

She also called for parents and teachers to join hands to support  pupils, saying good results could only be attained if the two parties joined hands to support pupils.

Furthermore, Ms Motswai urged parents to teach their children the importance of schooling, adding that there was no “dull” child.

She added that pupils who were not given any support were likely to fail than those who were given support.

Meanwhile, she decried the increasing road accidents on the A1 road, saying MVA encouraged all road users to work together to bring about safety in the roads.

She called on the MDB club to encourage those who were not club members to practice safe road usage to reduce accidents.

For his part, MDB club chairperson, Mr Bogha Maposa said although the club was still new as it was registered in 2017, it continued to encourage Mazda drivers to drive safely.

“Accidents are haunting our country and most people who are affected are the youth, whom we say are leaders of tomorrow hence we must work together in encouraging safe road use,” he said.

He urged club members to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition.

He added that the club engaged in activities geared towards helping the less privileged.

Mr Maposa added that the club has five branches countrywide in Palapye, Letlhakane, Gaborone, Francistown and Maun.

The donations included track suits, socks and school shoes. One club member pledged to buy shoe polish and brushes for each pupil who received the donation.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the school head, Ms Mishingo Motladiile thanked the club for the donation, saying that identifying with the school meant a lot to them.

She urged parents to take care of the uniforms, and ensure that their children dressed in clean proper school uniforms all the time. ENDS
