Support country leadership - Tsogwane

17 May 2018

Vice President and MP for Boteti West, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has urged the nation to continue supporting the country’s leadership in order to enable them to achieve their mandate.

He said the leadership had a mammoth task of taking the country forward, and that it could be achieved with the nation’s support.

Mr Tsogwane said this during kgotla meetings he held in Motopi and Makalamabedi in Boteti West.

The meetings were meant to thank residents for their support which led Mr Tsogwane to be elevated to the position of Vice President.

He informed residents that after taking over the highest office in the country, President Mokgweetsi Masisi had already laid a foundation which needed all to develop. He said President Masisi was no foreigner to running government, and that his recent trips to some SADC countries were aimed to develop partnerships and enhace trade.

Mr Tsogwane said President Masisi had launched his roadmap and that his priorities would be to fight youth unemployment and ensure the revival of rural development councils. He said the leadership would do all in its power to drive economic diversification in rural areas through the council, and that efforts had already been made in the Kgalagadi area.

He said since he was the chairperson of the council, he would ensure that community trusts were revived so that they benefit from the council by venturing into tourism activities.

“We want to see community trusts functional and promoting Community Based Natural Resources Management (CBNRM) programmes which focus on rural development,” he said.

He assured residents that he would continue working with them as their MP even though he was tasked with other responsibilities.

Residents from both villages hailed President Masisi for electing their MP Vice President and appointing Ms Bogolo Kenewendo the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry. They said the two were intelligent and hard working.

For her part, Minister Kenewendo thanked President Masisi for showing trust in her and Mr Tsogwane and promised delivery. Ends
