14 May 2018
The chairperson of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi Kgosi Puso Gaborone of Batlokwa has congratulated Kgosi Malope II of Bangwaketse for his re-election as deputy chairperson of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi. Kgosi Gaborone noted that he hoped to continue working with his deputy progressively as it had been the norm in the past before his term of office expired.
Both the chairman and deputy chairman tenure in office is two and a half years, but since Kgosi Malope took over midway from Kgosi Lotlamoreng II of Barolong, he had to finish his first half hence the vacancy.
Kgosi Lotlamoreng left for politics to contest for a vacant parliamentary seat left by Mr James Mathokgwane who left for SPEDU in Selibe Phikwe.
Kgosi Malope II was unopposed after he was nominated by Kgosi Justice Moseki of Ghanzi Region and seconded by Kgosi Peter Chika of Chobe.
In the meantime, Kgosi Godfrey Serapo of Toromoja took an oath of allegiance as the new member of the House, representing Boteti Region. He replaces Kgosi Oreagetse Machilidza who recently retired from service.
Kgosi Serapo’s name was submitted through a correspondence from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Meanwhile, this 11th meeting of the 3rd Ntlo Ya Dikgosi is scheduled to last until May 25. Ends
