14 May 2018

Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) has donated six computers and a printer worth P24 000 to Sehithwa Primary School in the Ngamiland District on Friday.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Assistant Minister of Basic Education, also Member of Parliament for Ngami, Mr Thato Kwerepe commended CEDA for helping with computers, which are key in the advanced education era of Information Communication Technology.

Mr Kwerepe said government valued education, especially at the grassroots level, therefore appreciated any assistance from the private sector.

He noted that Sehithwa Primary School has about 608 students, adding that government takes measures time and again to review the education system.

The assistant minister observed that the education system initially relied heavily on the workforce from expatriates, which changed over the years as the locals qualified as teachers.

Mr Kwerepe said government was planning to incorporate a curriculum that would encourage development of students’ talents in sports and crafts.

Further, Mr Kwerepe encouraged parents to work with teachers to attain good results, noting that he had received concerns from the school management about lack of cooperation from parents.

Maun CEDA branch manager, Mr Edwin Magosi said the donation followed a pledge by the executive director about three weeks ago.

Mr Magosi said CEDA also held in esteem assisting communities and schools, not only assisting start-ups and existing businesses.

Specially elected Councillor, Ms Nnanki Rebaisakae also commended CEDA for its gesture in assisting the primary school in innovative education. Ends
