Road project on-MP

13 May 2018

The Member of Parliament for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga has informed residents of Gweta that the Francistown/Nata and Nata/Maun A3 road will be constructed as promised.

Briefing the residents in a kgotla meeting recently, Mr Majaga said though it took time for the maintenance of the excessively damaged areas of the road to start, the process had since started at Mathangwane and Nata.

He further highlighted that the current process was only for reconstruction of extremely damaged areas and thus should not be misconstrued to be replacing the actual construction of a whole new A3 road.

He said upon completion of maintenance, construction of a new adjacent road would commence.

He said construction of the new Francistown to Nata section would start this financial year while the remaining Nata/Maun portion would be done in the 2019/2020 financial year.

He as such urged the residents to be patient with the process, adding that teams of experts would visit their areas to assess how best the new road could be done considering that the area was disaster prone hence the need for proper road construction with accommodative drainage system.

In addition, Mr Majaga said the Road department had been tasked with maintenance of the current road while construction was ongoing.

He however noted that there had been instances where dangerous potholes had remained unattended for long. ENDS
