Maunatlala youth behaviour cause for concern
10 May 2018
Kgosi Phopho Mapena of Maunatlala has expressed concern about immorality amongst the youth in the village.
Speaking in an interview recently, Kgosi Mapena said some young males in the village had resorted to criminal behaviour such sd breaking into stores and houses while others went to the extent of committing sexual assaults.
In the latest case of a bar break-in, he said the suspects were young males residing in Maunatlala.
Kgosi Mapena observed that most of the perpetrators were school dropouts aged between 18 and 23.
He appealed to parents to assume responsibility for their children.
Meanwhile, Maunatlala Station Commander Assistant Superintendent Mopedi Moipolai has confirmed that most of the suspects in house, shop and bar break-in cases being handled by police, were youth.
Mr Moipolai blamed alcohol consumption for youth involvement in criminal activities explaining that they stole in order to finance their alcohol habit.
He advised the youth to apply for government programmes such as Youth Developemnt Fund.
He also warned them that a criminal record would destroy their future and deprive them of opportunities such as employment, government funding and sponsorship.ENDS
