South East District Council presents Tlokweng development plan
08 May 2018
The South East District Council on May 5 presented a revised Tlokweng development plan to residents during a kgotla meeting in Tlokweng.
The physical planner at the council, Mr Emmanuel Ogotseng said the plan was to show how developments should be allocated.
He said one of the statutory requirements was that it should have the input of residents to guide on how their village should develop.
He said a plan was a guiding document which gave options on how the village should grow, and that the council found it fit to bring the development plan to discuss with residents for their input.
Meanwhile, Kgosi Puso of Batlokwa appreciated efforts of the South East District Council advising that developments such as hospitals, factories and schools should be built at the village, as they brought growth in terms of development.
Kgosi Puso also said given the proximity of Tlokweng to the city, the village should be benefiting from opportunities that came along due to being close to the capital city. He urged Batlokwa to be united when voicing their interests such as agriculture and culture before discussing them with council authorities.
The MP for Tlokweng, Mr Masego Sekgokgo said plans and developments were important and should be discussed by all. He said like Kgosi Puso said, Batlokwa should come together and give their opinion so that the plan could be of help to their village.
Mr Segokgo encouraged villagers to come in numbers for the meeting scheduled for May 19, as the issue was of public concern and it would be vital to raise different ideas. Ends
