Maseru Catholics visit
08 May 2018
Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church recently hosted over 200 members of the Sacred Heart Sodality of Deanery Two from the archdiocese of Maseru, Lesotho.
Sacred Heart Sodality is a group of Catholic members who aim to do merciful work in the church and community, and to assist the church in expanding the faith through sharing the Holy Scriptures and evangelization.
The sodality has members all over Botswana and has divided itself according to regions. Deanery Two, which starts from Ramotswa to Kgalagadi District, gathered in Taung for the retreat with their counterparts from Lesotho.
Welcoming Basotho, Kgosi Reuben Masie expressed delight to be having visitors from Lesotho, and looked forward to the work they were bringing to the village and church.
He pleaded with Sacred Heart members to pray for his village.
Mr Gilbert Nawa, a member of the Scared Heart Sodality, said the most important thing was for Catholics to learn and appreciate faith from one another, saying it was one of the reasons the Archdiocese of Maseru visited the Taung parish.
Mr Nawa emphasised that learning form one another could assist the faithful in understanding Christ.
The parish priest, Right Reverend Father Stephen Molefi, who was the host, said Batswana and Basotho had a lot in common, not because of Catholicism but with norms and values of the two cultures.ENDS
