08 May 2018
Kgosi Oscar Mosielele of Moshupa has applauded the Diamonds of Hope Committee (DHC) for the spirit of benevolence.
Speaking during the handover of a two-bedroomed house donated to Ms Maggie Raborokgwe on May 5, Kgosi Mosielele said it was noble for capable Batswana to go out of their way to assist those in need.
Kgosi Mosielele said the gesture complemented government efforts to provide decent housing for the less privileged Batswana.
He encouraged DHC to continue touching many other lives across the length and breadth of the nation, adding that their efforts were being appreciated.
Kgosi Mosielele also thanked the Moshupa Sub-district Council (MSDC) for identifying Ms Raborokgwe to be assisted by DHC.
Giving the project overview, DHC member, Dr Mwamba Nsebula said they used P 140 000 to build the house and furnished it with two beds, a stove and a fridge. Although small in his admission, he hoped the house would give the family dignity.
Dr Nsebula said DHC was established in 2015 by some employees of Debswana and those from other companies with a view to give back to the community.
Although most of the members were employed by Debswana, he explained that the initiative was not being sponsored by the diamond company.
“We depend on goodwill and donations from the private sector to carry out our projects, and I urge any capable Batswana to come on board and help us either in cash or in kind,” he said. The sub-district council chairperson, Mr Sonny Phiri also thanked DHC for the initiative and encouraged them to extend it to other parts of the country. He said the initiative was in tune with Vision 2036 ideals.
The beneficiary, Ms Raborokgwe thanked DHC for giving her a place to call home after her house was gutted by fire in 2015. Ends
