Marriage crucial to leadership

President Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo Masisi were among guests that came to witness Kgalagadi District Council chairperson, Mr Justice Nkwane and Ms Darly Nkwane nee Maibi exchange vows om May 5 at Hukuntsi.
News broke out prior to the event that the President would be attending the ceremony, but the doubting Thomases only believed it when they saw him in flesh.
The President and his entourage, among them Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale and Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, also area Member of Parliament, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi were received with ululations on arrival at the already packed Nkwane homestead.
In his remarks, President Masisi gave a message to the newlyweds and bachelors in attendance without sparring those in leadership, to embrace marriage and make it an incredible ride.
President Masisi urged the leadership to embrace marriage as a noble institution to help one learn valuable leadership skills.
He said marriage was the foundation of good life and gave one, especially those in leadership positions, integrity.
He said effective marriages and effective leadership were intertwined as leaders got ideas from their partners on how to address certain problems.
He said marriage was a sacred vow between a man and a woman and therefore must be respected as such.
The President encouraged the couple to respect each other and make decisions-making a shared responsibility as they had to share thoughts and opinions at all times.
He implored married men to respect their wives, because by God’s design, women were important in life because without them, human beings would cease to exist.
Great marriage, President Masisi said, needed hard work and commitment and also needed to be cultivated regularly.
He described Mr Nkwane as his political role model who had been nothing but loyalty to the BDP for many years.
He said he took interest in politics because of Mr Nkwane and other party members who lured him into politics to follow in his late father’s footsteps, whom he worked closely with on party matters.
Mr Nkwane appreciated President Masisi, his wife and the community for their support, a sentiment shared by the bride, who promised to be the best daughter in law to the Nkwane family.
She also promised to continue being a BDP member and carry on the mandate of the party. ENDS
