 Sixteen-year- old Tebogo Sekwati became this year’s winner of Miss Teen Universe Botswana title on April 27, surpassing 11 competitors for the prestigious crown.

The Serowe-born teenager had a massive fan base cheering her throughout the night.

She also scooped the Charity Champion award under the special awards category, making her the biggest winner for the night.

Tebogo will represent the country at the Miss Teen Universe International pageant next April in Panama.

She revealed in an interview that she had already started working on her project that she would present at the competition.

Same Lekwape was crowned first princess while Gape Rasegojwa walked away with the second princess prize.

On other special awards for the night, Obakeng Malete won Teen Popularity award while Lesego Sejai walked away with Top Model award.

Bone Keokilwe won Best Dress award while Miss Congeniality was awarded to Camelia Mphoyakgosi.

The pageant national director, Messiah Jackson said Miss Teen Universe pageant gave young women a platform to lead, to inspire, to be a voice to be heard as well as a role model to their peers.

She called on government departments and corporate organisations to support the teens as the winners of the pageant represented the country on an international level, a platform she said positively impacted Botswana’s global marketing and economics.

She applauded the pageant sponsors, who included Letshego Financial Services, Sun Beam Hotel and New Era College for having shown support to the pageant since its inception. ENDS
