UB student encourages youth to hone business skills
21 Jul 2013
Speaking during a workshop held at NFTRC recently, the organizer and University of Botswana research student Ms Violah Loeto argued that if the youth could capitalise on the courses in their village, they would stand a better chance to benefit from youth empowerment schemes and create employment for themselves and other unemployed youth.
She said courses like food packaging, bottling, product and process development among others are available at NFTRC at reasonable prices.
She lamented that most of the youth show little interest although the institution is right in their village.
Ms Loeto further advised them to venture into food catering business since it does not require any special skills.
One of the attendants, and upcoming entrepreneur who benefited from the NFTRC courses, Mr Kabelo Pilane also encouraged the youth to do business and dedicate their time, energy rather than wasting money on alcohol and drugs.
He said he started his sandwich business with only P50.00 but now he makes P450.00 per day. He said it takes proper business management skills to go far than money itself. ENDS
