Chobe BGCSE leavers appreciate career fair

Last year’s Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) candidates and the Chobe community have expressed delight to have different tertiary institutions bringing services closer to them.
In an interview, with one of those who attended the fair which was recently held in Kasane recently, Ms Nametsegang Seleti said such kind of career fair was important because some of the students did not have money to travel and attend the annual career fair held in Gaborone.
She said the fair gave them an opportunity to get first hand information from different institutions on a variety of courses they offered and any other important information which can help them choose the right courses.
Mr Chris Moiketsi, the marketing and communications manager at the Institute of Development Management (IDM) and also the national chairperson for the tertiary institutions roadshow, said their main objective as tertiary institutions was to partner than to compete, hence their decision to take their services to their clients all over the country.
“We have two teams, with one covering the southern part while the other one the northern part of the country. We want to make sure our clients get a chance to make their choices after getting a chance to see what all institutions have in store for them,” he noted.
Mr Moiketsi said last year only eight tertiary institutions attended this event but this year they saw the number double to 16 and it is not only private institutions involved in the fair but government institutions like BUAN also participated.
Asked about the turn-up of students to the career fair, Mr Moiketsi said the turn up was good although they had expected more numbers more so that this time around almost all tertiary institutions were present. ENDS
