Botswana gospel sensation, Kabelo Eric treated music industry experts, selected friends and media to a preview of his latest offering in a private listening session recently, ahead of the launch set for May 5.

The album titled, Take the glory consist of 10 tracks of worship songs all written and composed by Eric.

Most of the songs in the latest offering expresses gratitude to God for having uplifted him when he was facing challenges in his life.

Having been in the music industry for a very long time, Take the glory is his fourth studio album as a professional artist who has grown immensely over time and turned into a commercial artist.

The album is very diverse and the production is top quality.

The engineer did an excellent job as heard through Eric’s vocals, which are audible and through properly pronounced words.

Former Botswana Music Union (BOMU) president, Nkgopolang Tlhomelang said the gospel muso was icon in the music industry as his album was of an international standard.

His friends and supporters in the music industry described Eric as a very humble and obedient young man who feared God.

They advised him to sustain this character as it would continue to take him to greater heights and help him stay relevant in the industry.

They highlighted that Eric was very talented and he should continue working hard and make use of his talent to serve God.

For his part, MP for Gaborone North, Haskins Nkaigwa said it was high time government established an Arts Council responsible for professionalising the art industry in Botswana, which would allow local artistes to make a living through their talents.

“There is a need for government to recognise and support talent in Botswana to help curb challenges that face a lot of youth such as high unemployment rate.

Young artistes like Kabelo Eric can make a living through singing,” he said.

He said Batswana as a Christian nation should unite and become the voice that push government to appreciate, nurture and support talents of artistes in the country.

The president of BOMU, Pagson Ntsie encouraged artistes to use their talents to influence those in authorities to come up with laws that would favour their welfare.

He said the gospel industry was full of trials and tribulations and adding that artistes should be determined to remain great stars and realise their dreams despite challenges.

Meanwhile, Gloria Dzwikiti of Botswana Gospel Music Awards has called on all local gospel artistes to consider having gospel awards that were intended to improve the gospel industry in Botswana.

She said registration for the awards was ongoing and artistes could register at P100. ENDS
