Sprouting in the music industry with a debut single titled You are the One, Lorraine Ditsebe is confident to stay and aims to export her music.

Lorraine, 25, said the genre of her single track is Afro Jazz, Afro Soul and RNB fusion inspired by love.

She said the song was made for people who believed in love, those who had lost hope in love while at the same time generally speaking to all.

“The love I’m talking about doesn’t have to be a romantic relationship. It goes a long way to family relations such as the value of loved ones in your life, looking out for each other, understanding your loved ones and monitoring loved ones to avoid tragedies that may befall one such as death from depression and silence,” she said.

She said the song was inspired by the loss of her mother at a tender age. She said she later learnt that her death could have been avoided had there been enough love, care and support.

On when she discovered her singing and composition skills, Lorraine said for as long as she could recall, she discovered her talent during her primary school days where she sang in school choirs. She added that she gained more co

nfidence when she passed the St Joseph’s school auditions.

She added that although back then she did it for fun, her brother, who is the gospel award winning singer, Kabelo Eric inspired her. The multi-talented Lorraine said she had also explored dancing and loved ballroom and traditional dancing.

She said at the age of 23 she started making a couple of compositions inspired by her own personal experience and surroundings, adding that she discovered that most of the time happiness does not last hence the decision to use music to reach out to people.

You are the One is currently on rotation and has received positive reviews from both RB2 and Duma FM, noting that she was yet to take it to other radio stations locally and internationally and to release an online link for downloads.

She said although the single had just been released, she has already received a number of proposals from artists who wanted to work with her.

She said her music was produced by RoyK of Team Distance and was recorded at Hi-Note Studio by Tshepo Lesole.

She won the Miss Earth Botswana title in 2012, and represented the country in the Philippines where she won silver and bronze medals for the most business oriented woman of the world and for the most fast and efficient candidate of the year out of 118 competitors.

She also made it into elite pageants including Miss Botswana where she made it to the top 12 in 2016, and was later selected to represent Botswana at the Miss Globe in Italy where she was also chosen to be the face of an Italian sportwear brand on a year’s contract.
