Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) has rewarded its long service employees for the good performance, productivity, loyalty and commitment to the company.
In his remarks during the ceremony to honour 257 employees, BMC chief executive officer, Dr Akolang Tombale said awards were introduced 25 years ago. However he explained that the last ceremony was held in 2009 and the organisation was not able to host other ceremonies due to financial constraints.
Dr Tombale said BMC continues to rely on these employees dedicated service in the company.
He said a retention strategy has been put in place to ensure that events such as this one are held annually to motivate employees.
He said BMC recognises the sacrifices that employees make towards the economy by ensuring that skills remain within the business.
Furthermore, Dr Tombale noted that the commission is charged with a huge responsibility of cattle procurement, slaughter, marketing and selling of beef products to improve the country’s GDP.
For his part, Mr Phenyo Gaofise who received an award for 40 years of service said they arrived where they are because of hard work, dedication, determination and the love for their job.
He encouraged the younger generation of BMC staff to be exemplary in their work and thrive to leave a mark where they work. ENDS
