Lotsane senior school celebrates wellness day

19 Apr 2018

Lotsane Senior Secondary School wellness committee chairperson, Ms Keba Segonyane says fitness is good for a conducive teaching environment.

Speaking in an interview at the school’s recent wellness day, Ms Segonyane said fitness was important for good health and noted that besides feeling better mentally, exercising could help protect people from heart diseases, stroke, obesity and diabetes.

The ceremony was held under the theme: A quest for a healthy lifestyle.

Ms Segonyane said the aim was also to raise awareness on health and fitness issues for students, teachers and the community at large, adding that at times the school setting was the ideal place to make a positive impact on students. She noted that students spent most of their time at school and that it was the best opportunity to give fitness tips to them and teachers.

She appealed to the public to eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and know the importance of staying physically fit.

She said all these may help in not being affected by some diseases, and urged students to participate and be engaged in extra curriculum activities like sports, gymnastics and aerobics.

Ms Segonyane said it was their first wellness day and that the aim was to make it an annual event.

She thanked sponsors for a successful day, singling out BUIST, CNS Printers, Palapye Cresta Botsalo Hotel and the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). ENDS
