 The 32nd  Maitisong Festival will close over the weekend by hosting  with among others a Soweto Comedy Festival in Gaborone.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Soweto Comedy Festival  is part of the Maitisong festivities as a tour with nine comedians from Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

In an interview on Tuesday, Cracker Bobo Letsatsi of Cracker Nites, said Botswana brings an established  and well experienced duo of comedians in Bambino and Trics.

He said that the two have proved to be comedians of note in their work; adding that the experience they will gain from the Soweto Comedy festival will once again boost their profile and give them exposure not only locally but internationally. 

With the theme ‘Lore lo Ojwa lo Sale Metsi’, this show will  instill a lot of experience and discipline to rising star Trics who have been groomed by Cracker Nite comedies. As Cracker Bobo said, Soweto Comedy festival will allow local acts  to display their material with much enthusiasm and determination. He also said it is upon local comedians to make sure they penetrate the international market by all means. 

Similarly, for Maitisong their focus is to nurture and grow creative arts industry and play a role in helping the industry fulfill its potential. 

Hosted by Chris Mapane, Soweto Comedy Festival will be held on Friday (April 20) at Maitisong in Gaborone at 8pm. Alongside Bambino and Trics, other acts are King Flat, Chibwe (Zambia), Mbu Many Laughs, Skholo Mayisa, Brian Sibanda and Robyn Dunlop. ENDS
