Mater Spei College, which produced 16 top achievers and the best student Palesa Baraki, who scored 8A* and an A recently, hosted a victory party for 2017 top achievers.
Specially elected councillor, Mr Andy Boatile, applauded students for their academic achievement, noting that they had contributed to the history and image of the school.
He also commended the school for providing an atmosphere where students could imbibe good values and learn more on life skills.
Further, Mr Boatile said the commitment to provide quality education was also seen through the corresponding teaching and learning service such as guidance and counselling as well as curriculum design that would sustain the recipients of the education in the midst of global competition.
He said government’s commitment to providing quality education was reflected by policies that advocate for inclusive learning driven by pastoral care system and provision of appropriate infrastructure, resource availability in the face of acute shortage of resources against the ever increasing global prices associated with teaching and learning costs.
Mr Boatile said quality education led to citizen empowerment, national creativity and innovativeness as well as creating a democratic and inclusive society.
He urged top achievers to continue being a reflection of quality education wherever they go.
He advised them to choose courses that they would commit to because they were going to be foundation of lives and further cautioned them of bogus institutions.
Earlier in his remarks, Mater Spei College schoolhead, Mr Joseph Munyere applauded the staff for their continuous dedication in producing better results.
He also thanked parents and school partners for their support in helping the school succeed academically, saying some parents did not have interest in their children school life.
He therefore encouraged the city leaders to be involved in all schools over the city to motivate and encourage students as well as staff for better results. ENDS
