Lewis Furniture in Mochudi has donated goods worth P19 000 to Absolute Fitness Gym in appreciation of their social responsibility of assisting the elderly and people living with disability through provision of fitness services.

Handing over the donated items recently, Lewis Mochudi accounts manager Ms Kgomotso Seema said not everyone could maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle alone but that could be achieved by the help of others just as Mr Benjamin Sekale of the gym was doing.

The donated items included 32 inch television, single bed, a couch, stove and a fridge which will be used by the gym.

Ms Seema said exercising was vital in everyone’s life as it rejuvenated one’s mind and helped them maintain their blood pressure and any other weight related diseases.

She encouraged the public and other businesses to partake in the good cause of helping others especially the elderly and people living with disability as no one could do it alone.

She said the difference the gym was bringing into the lives of the people was worth a thousand words in those people’s lives as it helped them to stay focused and remain hopeful.

Ms Seema encouraged Absolute Fitness to take care of the goods donated to them.

Absolute Fitness gym director Mr Benjamin Sekale thanked Lewis furniture for donating such items to the gym as they will help them achieve their goal of assisting those with disability and elderly.

He said giving back to people with disability and elderly was close to his heart as he understood the struggles they went through daily.

He said he worked in a gym and also with the Botswana Defence Force dealing with wellness of the people and using his hands to heal people hence his love for helping them.

Mr Sekale attributed poor health to some challenges like ageing, retirement, stress and other social issues encountered by the elderly and those living with disability.

Furthermore Mr Sekale said he chose to help these people as they spent most of their finances on medical bills and transport.

Nominated Councillor Mr Tshwarelo Motsomi said giving back to the community should be every individual’s responsibility. ENDS
