Ambassador Tswelopele Moremi dies

Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation announces with deep sadness the passing away of Ms Tswelopelo Moremi, Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana to the Federal Republic of Germany.
A press release from the ministry says Ms Moremi was Botswana’s First Resident Ambassador in Germany following the establishment of the Embassy in September, 2013.
It says she has been instrumental in advancing Botswana’s relations with Germany in all aspects of development.
The release further says before joining the diplomatic service, Ambassador Moremi held a number of leadership positions in the Botswana and Southern Africa region. It further explains that she served as first Executive Secretary of the Southern African Customs Union(SACU) in Namibia from 2004 to 2014.
Furthermore, Ms Moremi served as Permanent Secretary in the then Ministry of Commerce and Industry from 1993 to 2003.
It says throughout her illustrious career, she sat on various governing boards including those of Bank of Botswana, Debswana, Botswana Meat Commission and Botswana Development Corporation.
She will be laid to rest in Botswana at a date to be determined. ENDS
